SIN – PER

ONE-WAY tickets to Perth on Tiger Airways will be available from just over $20 from March.
Round-trip passengers could be on their way to the Western Australian city for about $320, including taxes and surcharges – less than half the promotional fares now offered by full-service carriers like Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Qantas.
Perth, about four hours away, is Tiger Airways’ second Australian destination after Darwin.
The budget carrier will break new ground with this service by offering seat allocation and portable in-flight entertainment.
The airline said in a statement yesterday that, for an undisclosed charge, passengers who book their tickets online will be able to pre-select seats and preview onboard entertainment options.
‘It’s about giving the customer more choices,’ said a Tiger Airways spokesman, adding that if feasible, seat allocation and in-flight entertainment will be offered on Tiger’s other long flights.
The airline, which is 49 per cent owned by SIA, is the first budget carrier to offer the Singapore-Perth route since Valuair dropped it in October 2005. Operations will begin on March 23, beginning with four flights a week and working up to daily flights from November.
At a joint press briefing in Perth yesterday, Australian Tourism Minister Sheila McHale said low-cost carriers have ‘changed the face of holiday travel in Asia by making airline travel more affordable’.
She said that Western Australia needed such a service to bring in visitors from South-east Asia as competition was fierce from other destinations already benefiting from the low airfares offered by these airlines.
Tiger Airways’ chief executive officer Tony Davis said: ‘We are proud to be the only Asian low-cost carrier to link Perth with Asia.’
The proliferation of low-cost carriers in the region has seen Singaporeans travel ‘more frequently and impulsively’, said Miss Alicia Seah, vice-president (leisure) at UOB Travel Planners.
She added that Tiger’s Perth service should attract ‘steady and consistent demand’, given the good number of Singaporean students studying there.
Perth also attracts many leisure travellers.

I don’t know why people have been hounding me for clubbing nights. From Why Not to Powerhouse.
I have retired off the dance floor already. Sometimes I am itching to go but it is for the music I am after.
Apart from getting sick, the dance floor appeals to me no more. Not too long ago I used to dance like no one’s business. 3 nights in a row. You ask Ben, my good friend and he’ll tell you. It was the time when it all happened under my roof and my rules. Dance like no one is watching, have fun like there is no tomorrow and whatever happens in a club stays in the club.
But suddenly the joy of doing the above vanished. I was made aware of how I dance. I don’t dance very well indeed but I don’t really care. I am not there to do a catwalk or a show. Heck I pay 170 a night to have fun, not to let people have their fun of seeing a nice dance show. Those 3 hours brought me on a journey of fun and loads of tripping. But in a snap I was sobered up to what I was doing.
It was confirmation, my place in a club is not on the floor from the start. It was at the dj console playing and humping away with the decks. The thrill of dancing vanished. Going to a club is like going out with a giant pimple on your face. That is how conscious I would feel.
It was fun while it lasted. But one must move on. Old things don’t go, new stuff can’t come.
The good side of it all is that at least I can wake up on a Sunday way before 3pm, roaring to go rather than with a quizzy tummy in the past. Resting and resting before dressing up for round 3 on sunday nights.
Speaking of sunday nights. Crowds have always pissed me off. It got a little better when I clubbed with my friends and I didn’t mind the crowd. It is weird to dance in a crowdless club. But now that it has vanished, crowds have begin to annoy me all over. And from what I hear, Sunday nights are pure hell. Don’t these people work on Mondays? I cannot go to work half asleep and drunk. I need my mind and body clear to do my work cause mistakes are costly.
What will seriously irk me is if someone comes to work smelling of alcohol and looking so tired and all. No sense of responsibility and all. Behaving like a kid, having fun with no worry for anything. If you have to work, you have to work. Grow up and be responsible for yourself. Unless of course, you were never serious about working. In that case, it puts you in a different category altogether.

Hey just wondering, has anyone organised/attended a birthday party for a kid outdoors?
Any recommendation of venues anyhow? Asking for a colleague.

I bought this cute doggie and toad stuff toy from Cineleisure yesterday. Absolutely adore the dog. It has such a lovely cuddly furry feel to it that I love. Dear dear picked up the toad and so I bought both, putting them on my table since I can’t put our photo at work (this is not a rainbow bank and from what I see the whole floor is straight except me! Typical of IT and Ops dept) I have placed these 2 toys right in front of me. The other toys are lined up in another side of my table, all watching over me. When I intend to stay at a place for a long time, I’ll personalise my working area. After all I spend 9 hours here daily!
Lovely.
Doesn’t matter if the others feel that it is weird for a guy to have all these toys. I can imagine this male colleague of mine will be bringing people around and ask them “guess if the person who sits here is a guy or a girl”.
Duh.
Back to work!

And now it is my colleague’s turn to be sick and she had to go on MC leave. We were smsin one another and she is a virgo, supposedly very observant and a perfectionist. Is she another horoscope expert? She then asked me if I am a cancerian. She may have realised that from my birthdate (she was one of those who interviewed me hence saw my resume with details) but I think she concluded I am cancerian based on my traits. I shall grill her further!
Just cause I am stubborn and refuse to take MC cause of lack of manpower here and I am cancerian? Well that is my guess I admit. Shall wait and see how she came to know about my horoscope. Am I that predictable or carry the cancerian traits very obviously?
Still recovering from my cough and all. Feeling lousy still but a lot better than the first day. I bought another pants and shirt from G2000 to add onto my collection from yesterday. Good buys I felt. From a $118 pants down to $39. From a $59 shirt down to $29. Today I bought another pants down from $89 to $39. Pretty nice stuff I felt so I decided to buy. I have enough in my wardrobe already so that is all for now. Too bad I couldn’t get the dark green shirt that I like, but just as well. Till next time I am fated to get it! The above, I deem fated to get cause they had my sizes, as a last piece.
Watched Borat yesterday. Was totally hilarious. Don’t understand why there are no scenes of naked breasts but had a frontal view of a penis instead. And I thought R21 regulations prohibit the direct view of a penis or vagina even. Hmm… But it is funny, when Borat travels to US to learn about their culture. In his quest for it all, he gets infactuated with Pamela Anderson. What happens ultimately? Hmm.. it does seem like the whole recording is real in the sense, it seems to be shot live? Like when he did masturbated while looking at a poster, in full view of those walking past. Or how bout that Trump International incident?
I think it is worth $6.50 on a weekday, so that’s my opinion.
Tonight I shall catch A Night At The Museum. Finally have the chance to so I am hoping for a good laugh since the reviews I read in forums shows that it is hillarious. Weekend coming up!
But I need rest. And rest is something I shall have this weekend. ZZzzzzz

And so my poor dear dear has caught my bronchitis infection. Pretty infectious. I always seem to get sick after going to why not, unlike other clubs. There’s something lurking in there…
But I’m not on medical leave. Colleague needs me around cause the other one is away.
Gregorian’s Sadness is playing in my head somehow. hah hah… Shall I put it up here?

Inspired by Broken Arrow starring John Trevolta, my colleagues and I discussed a possible form of terrorist attack. Has minimal distruction towards humans, but flat-lines the entire country’s operations. Modern cars will cease to work, all computer systems destroyed with no form of recovery or back up, machines will all quit operating. Basically, back to caveman age kind of environment where anything electrical will fail to work.
Is it possible? Yes. What is scary? It doesn’t even cost a hell lot to build. Just a 3 digit figure. I shudder to think what will happen if such an attack is used, as there will be no BCPs at all. Businesses will stop operations, stock exchange will literally be taken off the global network, everything will crash.
I don’t know if the government has taken precautionary measures against such a form of attack (I can’t describe what it is of course. I dont’ want it to be used!), I can only hope they did, or that such an attack will never be mounted.
Yikez. It is bleak.

Saturday saw my project viva go through somewhat flawlessly. I think I did well in comparison. Had very minor touch ups to do, unlike the others. The evaluiators asked very few questions, which implies my presentation gave most of the information they needed to know. Headed home feeling very happy (but very tired) from it all.
Took an hour’s worth of nap since I didn’t get much sleep the night before (had to work feverishly to finish up everything before the viva session) and when isaac came back from work, we decided we were getting a tad bored. So after dinner and a round of sms, it was decided that we shall go for a drink and then clubbing! It was pretty good after all the weeks and months of absence. Had to be careful not to drink too much though cause we didn’t wanna waste a nice rest day on sunday. The alcohol had more effect on me, perhaps cause I was still sleepy and was having a throbbing headache from that 1 hour nap.
Drank. Did our ‘thang’ and then headed home at 6am. Pending nice sunny weather, we thought of a trip to Sentosa on Sunday. Got up by noon, noted the weather was good hence we jumped out of bed, into the shower and out of the house as fast as we could. A nice lunch of nasi lemak at Adam Rd hawker centre and a ride to Harbourfront followed. We know this guy who works at the cable car station so we had a good packaged rate for the cable car ride, the carlsberg sky tower, the luge and a 3d show.
As expected, loads of pictures so you have to check out our little picture blog over at :

Sentosa changed a hell lot since I last visited. And it wasn’t too long ago even. Somewhere last year? Practically just months back. Couldn’t recognise the place already. The beaches looked beautiful! So many food outlets and new resorts (looks good for a nice stay someday!), Cafe Del Ma (still under construction) all just right in front of the siloso and palawan beaches! Very nice indeed. I love the idea of piped music broadcasted via Bose speakers built into the ground along the pathway. Very nice music, kinda latin jazz feel to it all. Excellent.
The beach at night is really nice. Windy, quiet, serene.. beats ECP hands down. We were discussing if we had visitors coming into Sentosa, where would we bring them? Sentosa would be one. Night safari would be the other. I am very proud of these 2 establishments. Forget the zoo. We’ll substitute that with the night safari and thereafter a trip down to Tanjong Pagar. I reckon the ‘monkey in the bar’ (Miss Swan) clubs are far more interesting than the monkeys and animals at the zoo!
Do head on down to Sentosa, it wasn’t as crowded as I thought but it’s very nice. I was visibly impressed with their marketing strategy and revenue mechanisms on the island itself. Very good. You’ll have to experience it for yourself. Did I mention I had the sweest coconut drink right out of the coconut itself? Most of the time it is blend yet refreshing but this one is sweet. No sugar added for sure. I was watching.. If there’s one thing I would wanna steal, it would be the entire fridge of the coconuts. No kiddin!
The luge is definitely an experience not to be missed. Pictures and clips on the blog address mentioned above. Very fun. It is very Go-Cart like. Was very impressed with the overall style of operating the attraction. Heck, the entire island seemed to be well handled. Kuddos to the CEO and COO of Sentosa. Good job indeed. I doubt I can achieve half the standard perhaps. Everything was very well managed and controlled, but perhaps it did help a lot that the island wasn’t operating at full capacity. There were plenty of space and queues were not long at all. Fantastic.
It was a really nice trip out to sorta have a ‘short’ holiday within the state, after years of working and studying.. it is finally all over!!! Work the celebration indeed I’d say.
Don’t know where to go on a next sunny weekend? Sentosa is it. Spend the entire day and night there. You’ll be tired out but it is all worth while!
I guess we weren’t the only ones tired out. The 3 huskies we saw were definitely tired out. The owners took the dogs into the water for swimming lessons. Probably as a form of exercise for them. They look very fit and lean indeed. And huskies being huskies, ever so alert, elegant and they loved the water more than anything there and then probably. They’re very good looking, and they know it! I just sorta sympathise with the other dogs that didn’t look half as good. *sigh* I feel for them.
Pictures of the huskies? It is all on the picture blog.
Thanks darling! I never had such a better time at Sentosa. I soaked in more sights and sounds than all of my previous trips to Sentosa combined. Most of the times I were there were either boring or disappointing. That I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
I know my dear dear was expecting a lot out of it and maybe he was a little disappointed that I didn’t show how thrilling it all was. He always says, seeing me laugh and being happy made him even happier than I am. I only hope that he doesn’t stress himself over such stuff cause although it isn’t that apparent, I’m usually thrilled by the simplest things. Just leave out all the stuff that annoy and irritate me (like being in the sun all day with no reprive and it’ll result in heat spots forming all over my face and generally causing me to be edgy). The air-con food court by the beach was such a blessing!
It is back to work now and mondays sees us really busy so I’d better get back to work. One of my colleagues is on compassionate leave after the death of his grandfather. The good thing bout it all is that the grandfather has lived to a ripe old age and everyone had the time to be mentally prepared for it. Pneumonia is usually fatal in the aged. ‘Things are better this way though’.. I told him. Free of pain now, and everyone has the chance to say goodbye. It couldn’t end any better I felt.
