Does anyone remember Shawn Stockman’s Visions of a sunset? Taken OST Mr Holland’s Opus?

I was still in secondary school then… but it is such a beauty I feel. Still is!

Oh Yeah
Lived all my days trying to embrace
Life with my heart by all the beauty
I feel and create it spins and moves
Flows at my pace telling its story
From the tear running down my face

[Chorus:]
Visions of a sunset just appear when
I close my eyes
Takes my closer to heaven when the
Flute starts to fly
And the violin cries

Confusion leaves while peace
Orchestrates runs through my
Veins and in other seekers it
Penetrates my reason why
The big city air smells so
Sweet takes me through journeys
In time from my youth to as
Far as I can see

[Chorus ]

It’s all I need in my life
It’s all I need and no one
Can take your place by my side
You’re all inside of me

[Chorus ]

We’ll free from all sorrow
Like the wind blows from the sky
Takes me closer to
Heaven when the
Flute starts to fly

And it was back to the clubs for some stress relieving, beat popping and alcohol boozing fun. Play’s house pours are really strong, and as the night went by I got increasingly high to the point of throwing up. Haven’t gone ‘there’ for eons now. It was nice catching up with DJ Andrew Tang (head dj of Play) and I called my si fu down for a while too. Wow he never looked better. He spins at M bar now as well it seems.

Why Not on the other hand hasn’t changed much, yet has changed totally. Literally empty, with music belonging to the ‘hay days’ it seems. I wonder if it will revive again one day (or night) but the crowd is definitely at Play right now and rightfully so. A good mix of music, strong beats and one heck of a sound system. It’s strong drinks are a plus to any boy’s night out, but they really ought to do something bout the prices of bottles…

Ronnie is still spinning at Mox apparently and caught a glimpse of him, while I was very very high already.. you know the feeling.. you can only see ghostly images of people. haha…

But I am glad one thing never changes, and that’s my favorite food centre, Maxwell! The food, the beer, the fried oysters and all. It really feels like home there, whether it is a clubbing night or not. A fav hangout of mine, and who cares if what I eat is unhealthy. Aint no daily affair anyway.

Am I all ready for a new work week? Oh well let’s not get there so quickly.. the day is still young. Gonna head out to do some shopping and hunt for some dvds to borrow and watch the night away… wheeeeeee…!

I took a cab to work today.. Was too tired and it was too sunny out there to be lugging a laptop around buses and trains. Managed to flag down a merc cab. Those who know me will know that I am not fond of ‘frills’. They would have heard me say stuff like “a cab is a cab, why should I pay 2.80 on boarding and an extra 10 cents here and there on distance?”

But I found the ride worth the price today. A comfortable temperature, a good driver who knows when to speak and gives suggestions on routes and when to shut up, nice music on the cd player (when was the last time I heard emotions by bee gees, roberta flack’s killing me softly, etc).. very Gold FM kinda tracks but it does set the kinda mood that relaxes.. not forgetting the nice aroma, the auto transmission (it makes a difference as the vehicle doesn’t jerk as much) and an overall ride fit for the king.

So yes it was worth the price. And why not, if it sets the mood right from the start of the day. One screw up and it can ruin my entire day indeed. And now I wonder, have I been too hard on myself? Have I been too stingy, and miss out on all the little things here and there? I’ve always felt I do not deserve all the frills. I am not a rich prince. This prince has to work for his money and future, and it is hard work but at least I am happy at what I do.

So the next time you think you need to book a cab and have loads of shit on your minds and the distance to your destination warrants it, you may want to try booking a merc cab. I think it is by citycabs is it? Aint too sure how many types of merc cabs are out there, but try one anyway. Do be aware of the charges for booking, ERP, and peak hour. There was none today, so it was a flag down rate of $2.80 all the way to my office in raffles place, at a total cost of $7.10, of which he rounded off to $7. Good ride indeed. The toyota crowns unfortunately, ‘cannot make it’…

Watched Eternal Summer… well you know it is a good one when it can generate hundreds of comments within a few days, talking and discussing the contents.

Ceddy, Queenin, my dear and myself caught the movie last night. We were late, so for the benefit of those who were like us, here is the first part of the movie again.

http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/doOHwes1fuM/

It is 1/6 of the whole movie, and needless to say, a sad ending. Propaganda I say! One question remains, why would a straight guy ‘do’ it with another guy? Curious? Bisexual? The novel states the usual ending.. one dies of an accident and the other comes back and regrets his actions. So broke back mountain. Maybe that is why the director of the movie chose to leave the ending open. Does Shane like Jonathan ‘that’ way too? Or is it a rejection, by saying “we will forever be best friends’

Many said it is better than Formula 17. I think it is worth a watch. Yet another chance to see the struggles from a PLU as a minority, in the sense that we wonder if the other is gay too. What are the odds? And you have a lot falling for straight guys.. Forbidden love. These days it seems females are also increasingly facing the same issue. Falling for a gay boy..

Despite all the nonsensical crap we see in the news today, I can assure you that the love life of a gay is not that sad. Not any worse than a heterosexual relationship at least. Sure, we have issues that is different from that of a straight relationship. But the basis of love is the same. In simple words, we are romantically inclined with someone of the same gender. IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?

Where did all the crap about HIV and sex come from. You mean to tell me straights don’t screw around and are faithful and monogamous?? Don’t give me that bullshit.

We do harm to society? And that comes from a lawyer. And then we see another ‘dr’ writing in too. We affect society? IN WHAT WAY? Crimminalise sexuality? Go and crimminalise those who burn down forests, those who drive cars (polluting the air) and all that before telling me about crimminalising. These people have BETTER things to do than interfere with our personal lives. And that is not the worst bit yet. Do you see those who burn down forests and cause the yearly haze caught? No! Instead of doing what they ought to do, they come and kaypoh on other things that DO NOT CONCERN them.

And if they think ah kuas are all push overs, obviously they have NOT met me.

Fuck!

Indeed so, MM Lee has made his stand. And as expected, this has been a talking point. People ask me, what do I think about it? I think we all know and there isn’t anything explicit to say anymore. With a bitch (you know who) writing in, what we do see is a long list of others who are ready to dispute with her.

So she is a lawyer eh? Well we have an MP who is in law as well. Read all about it: http://siewkumhong.blogspot.com/2007/05/opinion-on-938-live-and-ill-reasoned.html

She has a hidden agenda I suspect. Is she married? Does she have kids? Is her son GAY?

What she says doesn’t piss me off. What pisses me off is, why is she given a full page? Does she deserve it? I DO NOT THINK SO.

There are so many loopholes in her statements, and you give her a whole page? That makes ST just as dumb as her.

Crimminalise just cause majority of the people find it offensive? As how someone put it:

I find the letter on ST so silly. I have quoted some parts:
http://www.yawningbread.org/arch_2007/yax-740.htm
QUOTE

Any argument to decriminalise homosexual sex must consider the harmful social consequences. For example, would affirming homosexual sexual practices serve the common good? It is a known medical fact that homosexual intercourse or sodomy is an inherently unhealthy act that carries higher risks of a number of sexually transmitted infections. The law should not facilitate acts which threaten public health.

It’s a known fact smoking causes more deaths than gay sex causes hiv in Singapore.

It’s a known fact also that becoming pregnant and giving birth cause more death than gay sex causes hiv in Singapore. A

nd, it’s a known fact that the people who become metally ill and/or commit suicide in Singapore exceed the number of people who become infected with hiv via gay sex in Singapore.

Shouldn’t the law ban smoking and straight sex, and shouldn’t all Singaporeans migrate?

My comments are best summed up in the blog link given earlier.

“I am not sure what I was more disappointed with: the thrust of the article, the poor (sometimes non-existent) reasoning, or the fact that The Straits Times chose to publish it and to give it such prominence. But I do know that I was immensely disappointed that this piece was written by an assistant professor in the NUS Law Faculty, who also teaches constitutional law. She may know the law, but she has not, in this piece, demonstrated the ability to apply it.”

I am particularly more pissed with ST, than with that woman. Nuff said. I wish someone will write in and rebut ST for that. I have already done so. But they chose not to publish.

And why am I not surprised?

Regarded as a pioneer of global investments in the 1950s, Sir John Templeton’s sixteen rules for success still form part of the philosophy employed by gurus like Mark Mobius and Murdoch Murchison. As his name suggests, Templeton founded the Templeton Group while Mark Mobius is managing director of Templeton Emerging Markets Fund. Murchison is best known for his work as banking and mining analyst for the Templeton Funds Group.

Sir John Templeton’s sixteen rules for investment success:

1. If you begin with a prayer, you can think more clearly and make fewer mistakes.

2. Outperforming the market is a difficult task. The challenge is not simply making better investment decisions than the average investor. The real challenge is making investment decisions that are better than those of the professionals who manage the big institutions.

3. Invest – don’t trade or speculate. The stock market is not a casino, but if you move in and out of stocks every time they move a point or two, the market will be your casino. And you may lose eventually -–or frequently.

4. Buy value, not market trends or the economic outlook. Ultimately, it is the individual stocks that determine the market, not vice versa. Individual stocks can rise in a bear market and fall in a bull market. So buy individual stocks, not the market trend or the economic outlook.

5. When buying stocks, search for bargains among quality stocks. Determining quality in a stock is like reviewing a restaurant. You don’t expect it to be 100% perfect, but before it gets three or four stars you want it to be superior.

6. Buy low. So simple in concept. So difficult in execution. When prices are high, a lot of investors are buying a lot of stocks. Prices are low when demand is low. Investors have pulled back, people are discouraged and pessimistic. But if you buy the same securities everyone else is buying, you’ll have the same results as everyone else. By definition you can’t outperform the market.

7. There’s no free lunch. Never invest on sentiment. Never invest solely in a tip. You would be surprised how many investors do exactly this. Unfortunately there is something compelling about a tip. Its very nature suggests inside information, a way to turn a fast profit.

8. Do your homework, or hire wise experts to help you. People will tell you: investigate before you invest. Listen to them. Study companies to learn what makes them succesful.

9. Diversify – by company, by industry. In stocks and bonds, there is safety in numbers. No matter how careful you are, you can neither predict nor control the future. SO you must diversify.

10. Invest for maximum total real return. This means the return after taxes and inflation. This is the only rational objective for most long-term investors.

11. Learn from your mistakes. The only way to avoid mistakes is not to invest – which is the biggest mistake of all. So forgive yourself for errors and certainly don’t try to recoup losses by taking bigger risks. Instead, turn each mistake into a learning experience.

12. Aggressively monitor your investments. Remember no investment is forever. Expect and react to change. And there are no stocks that you can buy and forget. Being relaxed doesn’t mean being complacent.

13. An investor who has all the answers doesn’t even understand the questions. A cocksure approach to investing will lead, probably sooner than later, to disappointment if not outright disaster. The wise investor recognises that success is a process of continually seeking answers to new questions.

14. Remain flexible and open-minded about types of investment. There are times to buy blue-chip stocks, cyclical stocks, and convertible bonds, and there are times to sit on cash. The fact is there is no one kind of investment that is always best.

15. Don’t panic. Sometimes you won’t have sold when everyone else is selling, and you will be caught in a market crash. Don’t rush to sell the next day. Instead, study your portfolio. If you can’t find more attractive stocks, hold on to what you have.

16. Do not be fearful or negative too often. There will, of course, be corrections, perhaps even crashes. But over time our studies indicate, stocks do go up ….and up … and up. In this century or the next, it’s still “Buy low, sell high.”

I tossed and turned. I awoke and knew I was dreaming.. and went back to sleep..

In my dreams.. I felt something growing on my back so I went to see a doctor for that. He decided to take an xray cause he felt the lump was deeper internally then one can see. Turned out, it was huge. A biopsy test showed it was malignant. I floated above me.. as in, I was looking on seemingly at what is happening from a bird’s eye view. I saw the report given to me.. I saw how I reacted. I actually felt quite ill.

My first thoughts were not that of fear. It was, should I go get an insurance policy now? Quickly before anyone discovers it. So most of my dream was to find ways to get around doing so. I felt myself go through chemotherapy. I felt nauseous. Seriously I just wanted to die. But I couldn’t. I woke up, again and again and went back to sleep. Hoping I will die. I never did.

I woke up at 11am. Alive. Knowing it was all a dream. As weird as it went…
