I am alive!

Jun 30, 2009 in My Shout Outs

Hey folks. It has been a long time since I last posted. No worries, I am fine, thanks to all for your messages and stuff. There hasn’t been much to speak about. I have been working hard on my other blog doing stuff and all. Work is also extremely busy due to the flu pandemic and the financial services as a whole are jittery. As my department deals with business continuity (even though I think it the onset should be on the corporate operation risk management team, nonetheless we have a lot of policies to decide on, defining triggering events that will invoke BCP. I will also be moving one of my team mates to our BCP site. Basically, it has already been determined that it is a matter of time the button will be pressed. We just need to figure out what the triggering factor is, and what we need to do. Do we do something if someone in the building tests positive? What about within the company? Or within the floor? If so, what is the protocol to follow? While we have our own BCP already, we need to factor that this is a flu pandemic so there will be protocols we have to figure out which the company is expected to comply to as soon as top management endorses it.

Out of work, I am looking forward to a month of celebrations for myself, and the july cancerian babies. It is unfortunate and disappointing that not everyone intended is gonna join. Such is life which I have accepted, shrugging it off like dandruff. I will of course, be doing video roving reports and posting it out. First up, a weekend at Ubin and a stay at Changi itself.

Coming up end of this year, unlike what I did last year, I will be doing a sillypore top 20 countdown 2009. 20 of my favorite hits based on my itune’s track count, as well as a 1 hour special paying tribute to Michael Jackson.

I hope everyone’s well. As the first half comes towards a close, I wish for a better second half for everyon!

I was there earlier for some drinks and I think it’s a pretty cool place to hang out I think. It was happy hours 1-1 but we could not keep the beers on hold. I didn’t like that bit of it cause all the places I have been to allowed the second drink to be on hold. It is not just out of convenience for the customer, but in total respect for the beer! A stale beer is MEAN!

This post is dedicated to Mr Jay Chia, my very trusted Trading Rep…

Very known for messaging me things like “feel like buying (stocks) ley…”

The very next second he messages me again “I think I better not”

Today he did this , after the market closed -

(????•?)? Jay ?(????•?)? says (5:04 PM):
*wan to meet for dinner later ?
*i think better mai .
*i meeting client .
*he reached liao .

The reason?

?(????•?)? Jay ?(????•?)? says (5:04 PM):
*i thought i meeting him at 6.00
*-_-”

He always does this to me!

“Feel like doing ___ ley”… then “I think better not”.

He is one confused kid man! I say.. thank goodness for my ‘diao’ MSN icon!

Head Over Heels @ Bukit Panjang Plaza

Jun 15, 2009 in My Shout Outs

BPP Roadshow

Head over heels indeed, with DJ Glenn Ong and the resident traffic CEO the Flying Dutchman from Class 95FM!

They were doing an event @ BPP and I was first notified of it by Jayme, and knowing how Jay is such a huge fan of Glenn, I double checked and confirmed they were indeed gonna be there. So of course, we trooped down, had lunch at Jack’s Place (I think their steaks are far better than those twits @ Astons at 6th Avenue), took a look at some cars on display and participated in the game shows the duo ran. Although Jayme didn’t win the $500 diamond pendant, she did walk away with NTUC vouchers for basically doing.. nothing! I, on the other hand, was busy filming the whole thing for her. I think Jay’s a happy camper now.. It was nice to see this monkey grinning from ear to ear! I was on the phone with the princess rach and she’s a huge fan too and when I asked if she would like to speak to Glenn she didn’t want to. Too shy la she said! Shy and lawyer doesn’t seem to go hand in hand.

It was a good weekend indeed! Very nice.

Some updates from me. I have been busy researching for the next training and exam that will be worth my 4.5k smackaroos. It is gonna be painful so it better be good. It can of course, be good only if one does his proper research. This will be in one of my area of interest, business continuity management.

I have also received an email reply from my secondary school teacher Mr Melvin Pilo. I haven’t replied to it yet but he’s on vacation in UK anyhows. It is the school holidays! Haven’t replied but seeing a mail from him is always a very nice thing to have at any time of the day :)

Some other questions coming in from some people… one of which is.. am I dating anyone? Well let me just say, when the time is right I will make the announcement.

For now, to all the workers out there, PAY YOUR DAMN INCOME TAX! Unless of course you’re as smart as I am,  and opted to defer payment plus pay in 6 monthly installments. For those who are studying, GET READY TO GET BACK TO SCHOOL! Damn am I glad I can get rid of them for a few more months. Stay out of the streets so that I can do my shopping and movie screenings on a weekday! Okay I’m mean but one fine day when you are out of school and out into the working world you will know exactly what I mean.

As for those who went to Suntec over the weekend, did you all enjoy the shoulder rubbing butt bumping genital humping (maybe the guys will like this) and squeezing around like ants in an ant nest?

The journey home was terrible today. Traffic everywhere. Damn sometimes I wish the PC show lasted all year. So all the cars will be stuck there, PERMANENTLY!

Amen.

Maybe xxx is right. I am feeling extremely vexed. Cuz my gut is screaming at me right now. It was shouting at me for half a year. Today it is screaming at me. “Bish! What the hell are you doing! Come on! I SAID NO!”

That is what it is telling me. How do u even enter a relationship when u got a very bad feeling bout it from day 1. HAIZ. Everytime I go against my gut feel, I end up screwing myself. Literally.

Empty roads..

Jun 11, 2009 in My Shout Outs

I left work on time today cause I was quite tired and all.. and you know what amazed me? The traffic on the roads. Cross Street. ZERO jam. Farrer Road. ZERO Jam. I came back home in record timing considering the supposed evening peak hour.

VERY STRANGE.. it is not a weekend.. nor a public holiday.

Where did the cars go? School holidays? Nah. The jam actually got worse during this year’s school holidays and I don’t know why.

I know what happend..

EVERYONE WENT TO SUNTEC! To all you suckers who got stuck in the jam around suntec trying to find some parking space, if you aint a sucker yet, you will be one by the end of the day.

Keep your cars at home for GOD’s SAKE. If u wanna drive your car to buy your plasma TVs and netbooks, drive to courts or Harvey Norman. You wanna save a couple dollars and get stuck in a jam 2 hours in, and 2 hours out, and countless wthin the complex? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? Time, vs ERP… parking charges.. not to say you ARE already driving a car.. and u wanna get stuck in all of that for a couple dollars. God bless u all.

That said, I am glad most people are not like me. Else there will not be anymore PC Shows or whatever IT Funfairs left.

Amen.

I went to the PC Show..

Jun 11, 2009 in My Shout Outs

People who know me will go… WHAT??!?! Why?!!

Did I buy 200 desktops and 200 laptops?

Here’s the story. I read of this made in Singapore phone meant for the elderly. It has huge buttons, has an SOS and panic button (when pressed it sends text messages to 3 mobile numbers and dials a pre designated one). It also has a torch amid other functions. Basically, I thought it was a nice thing for my grandmother. I was mulling over it this morning.. wondering if I can get it somehow without going to the PC Show. But what the heck. I decided to go just before lunch. Very impromptu. Very me. I took a bus from the office to Suntec and goodness.. the bus was full and so were roads leading into Suntec. For those going during the weekends, good luck to you all!

cp09So I got the phone. I saw the black and white one. Didn’t catch my eye. Think my grandma will like gold.. so i got the gold one. Quite unique in color too. There is nothing in the world that can make me squeeze through any of these shows. I am not rich but seriously even if I am shopping for multiple TVs and all for my new home, i will just go to HN or something.

I waited a pure 25 mins to be attended to cause everyone kept cutting through. In the end I grabbed one of them and said “Give me the gold one!”. This guy doesn’t know how to write and issue invoices, don’t know how to swipe cards. Don’t know shit! Why was he sent there? I mean come on. PC SHOW. If u want business u send people who can handle things quickly cuz of the volume. So effectively we only had 1 guy processing everything. And goodness knows how many queues formed in various directions. Even if I wanted to ask a question I couldn’t. It was so noisy with goodness knows how many speakers blasting away.

A good bargain? How good can bargains be? U just get loads of freebies. Just ask me colleague and he can tell (and show u) how you can get even MORE from Sim Lim if you are nice enough.

I don’t know what i will be up to this weekend but one thing is for sure, I will not be spotted anywhere near Suntec. I bumped into quite a few people I haven’t met in a while so it was really nice overall. But I got what I want. The item for my grandmother. I will brave a storm and the desert to get something for her if I so deem it necessary. I will not put myself through such crowds for any other reason. Absolutely no other reason. Not even if they gave away free PCs cause if they did the queue will start from Tanglin Road..

I am a happy camper now though. I have survived!
