Life For Rent

I heard the trailer cum interview for the Love of Siam on Class 95 today. I couldn’t remember who was giving the interview but I think it is Mario. I quite like the other, Wichawisit Hiranwongkul who plays Mew. Some questions asked like why should audiences catch Love of Siam. The question was somehow asked twice. The first reply was that audience will see love, from a thai’s perspective. Something we don’t get to see usually. I was thinking bout that line for a while. Granted it wasn’t slated to be like a homosexual themed movie but the relationship between the 2 boys go beyond close friendship which is pretty obvious. I did catch this once elsewhere (after the whole world has watched it literally, apparently) and I do quite like it actually. Loads of emotions, struggles and all not just between the two leads, but those surrounding them too. Indeed a love story from Thailand coming to our shores is very rare. Usually it is horror flicks and all!

I can also say, after watching it before, why it will make it out to our screens. That is cause it has the classic ending which all homo themed movies have in common if they are to be aired here. I remember my ex watched it countless times and always teared. For me, I can still remember how it ended, and the last line uttered for the movie before it came to a close.

I actually don’t mind catching it again. To sorta remind myself of some stuff.

Here’s the sypnosis -

Two young boys are best friends living quiet family lives in Bangkok. Their lives are disrupted when one boy’s older sister goes missing on a jungle trip. The shattered family moves away, separating the boys. Years later, now in their late teens, the boys meet again. One of them is now the leader of an aspiring boy band whose managing assistant bears a striking resemblance to the lost sister. The boys must deal with their family and social lives and their feelings for each other.

Prepare to witness a variety of love stories with many lives connected through close friendships. These love stories will be revealed together with beautiful love songs that will surely make everyone feel the warmth. Its a time which will last in everyones memory forever.
